Infilled Turf
What is it?  It is simple put a fabric backed with plastic blades of grass with rubber or rubber-sand mix placed on top of the fabric backing.
Is it diffrent from Astroturf?  Yes very much so.  You can use your normal cleats and has less injury risk than Astroturf although the studies do not have the same amount of time of use that Astro has.

Some Notes
A- this is optional but most fields will also have a track drain on the outside of this that would also be tied into the drainainge field.
B- The board is also optional but then the turf would have to be ram set inplace instead of screws or other fasteners.
C- This
D- These typically run diagonally across the field and hook up on both ends.
E- This will go into a large retion basin of some kind.
F- The Geotextile is a fabric to keep any sand and other fine materials from entering the tile.
H- This is optional and allows for a softer surface according to some companies although it would have to be replaced after the 2nd Turf installation on it.
I- This is multipart and would have an intial layer that the grass blades would be attached through and then a second to solidify those connections and holes for drainage.
J- The seams are done in 4 ways.  Sewn seams are done with a thick thread that locks the 5 yard wide rolls together.  The other method is a backing material typically paper with a glue adhesive to merge the rolls together.  These are then done on either the 5 yard lines, or can be done on the 2.5 yard lines.
K- For some fields the 5 yard field lines are painted on using a removable paint.  Other fields have it tuffted into the rolls themselves.  These typically are done lengthwise since the method of manufactoring them.  The numbers and logos are typically cut in using the same method of attachment as the seams.
L- The type of blades is numerous but most companies offer every type with the better types costing more.  The type of infill is either up to the facility owner or the company they choose.  The two major types of rubber is a frozen then crushed called cyrogentic rubber, or a washed and crushed rubber that is not frozen but has been known to be more abbrassive but is manufactured cheaper.  The type of sand that can be used is either normal washed sand for cheapness for an abbrassive type or a less abbrassive type but more expensive sand.  The sand is only used in hybrid infills with the rest of infills using an all rubber infill.
